What is a career cluster

A career cluster is a group of related occupations and industries that share common skills, knowledge, and interests.

Explanation

Career clusters organize hundreds of jobs into broad categories (often 16 clusters) so students and job-seekers can explore related careers, pick relevant classes, and plan education or training pathways. Each cluster contains multiple career pathways (more specific sequences of jobs and training) and individual occupations.

Common career clusters (examples)

  • Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources
  • Architecture & Construction
  • Arts, A/V Technology & Communications
  • Business Management & Administration
  • Education & Training
  • Finance
